Mendocino County is home to more than 3,000 mushroom varieties, including the rare candy cap mushroom with its intense maple syrup flavor and sweet fragrance that grows only along the northern coast of California. With mushroom dinners, wine- and beer-pairing workshops, cooking classes, musical performances, exhibits, guided mushroom foraging there is something for everyone during this magical season of mushrooms. Events take place throughout the County, from the coast to the inland valleys.

Ford House Exhibits, MENDOCINO.
Mushrooms will be the focus at the Ford House in November with a month long exhibit featuring mushroom natural history. A show of photographer Laura House's close up images of our local fungi will add brilliant illustration to this exhibit.

Explore Big River Estuary with Catch-A-Canoe guided and self-guided paddling experiences. For the Mushroom Festival well provide complimentary maps of Big River Estuary. If you prefer mountain biking, rent a bike to explore coast bluffs and old logging roads, and experience Mendocino in a way only mountain biking can provide. Mushrooms grow along the old roads and on high banks above the river.
