Mendocino County is home to more than 3,000 mushroom varieties, including the rare candy cap mushroom with its intense maple syrup flavor and sweet fragrance that grows only along the northern coast of California. With mushroom dinners, wine- and beer-pairing workshops, cooking classes, musical performances, exhibits, guided mushroom foraging there is something for everyone during this magical season of mushrooms. Events take place throughout the County, from the coast to the inland valleys.

Mushroom Excursion Train - DAILY
All aboard the historic Skunk Train! Trains
depart daily out of Willits and
Fort Bragg. The view from our
restored rail cars is pretty much
unchanged from the late 1800s.
Bring the family and see if you
can spot wild mushrooms from
the open air car of the train.

Catch a Canoe - DAILY
Explore Big River Estuary with Catch-A-Canoe guided and self-guided paddling tours. If you prefer, rent a bike to explore coast bluffs and old logging roads, to experience Mendocino in the unique way only mountain biking can provide.

Mushroom Exhibits - DAILY
Ford House Exhibits, MENDOCINO.
Mushrooms will be the focus at the Ford House in November with a month long exhibit featuring mushroom natural history. A show of photographer Laura House's close up images of our local fungi will add brilliant illustration to this exhibit.

Lighthouse Tours - DAILY 10:AM-3:30PM
Point Arena Lighthouse & Museum
Climb to the top of one
of the tallest lighthouses for spectacular
360-degree views from this 115-foot tower built in 1908.
The lighthouse is on a point of
land that juts out two miles into the
Pacific, and is an excellent place
to view the migration of California
Noyo Kayak Tour - DAILY - 11am
Tour the calm waters of the Noyo River in search of curious harbor seals, sea lions and other river wonders, while you enjoy the quiet solitude of the Noyo River, fall scenery, colorful migratory ducks, and mysterious mushrooms.

Executive Chef Marc Dym creates a multi-course meal featuring a bounty of local mushrooms paired with perfectly crafted ale from Russian River Brewing Company Brewmaster Vinnie Cilurzo. Chef Dym highlights our local mushrooms and serves them with Russian River brews worthy of their cult following. Reservations recommended.

The company performs in the intimate 83 seat Theatre, located on grounds of the Mendocino Art Center. Producing a variety of plays ranging from great literary classics to

During harvest festival at a collective farm, a visiting dance troupe reunites a ballerina with her childhood friend Zina. In order to teach her unfaithful husband a lesson, Zina, the ballerina and the ballerinas husband decide to swap roles for the evening.

Often the first question when encountering a new mushroom is "Is it edible or poisonous?" An equally interesting question is "How can this mushroom improve my health?" Join Stanford Inn's Nutritionist Sid Garza-Hillman and Ravens Creative Director Chef Sadhana Berkow in a fun and inspiring exploration of the nutritional value of mushrooms and how to prepare them.
