DIRECTIONS TO THE MENDOCINO COAST
All of the roads that lead to Mendocino are incredibly scenic!
Your final destination might determine the route best for you.
Taking the coastal route will add a few hours to your travel time.
Highway 101 will get you here faster! ~ TRAVELING FROM THE NORTH ~Coastal Route ~ Highway 1 merges from Highway 101 (in Leggett) headed South toward the Coast. Meander down Highway 1 along the Mendocino Coast through all of our coastal villages. This route takes more time, some people choose to save the coast drive for the drive home.
Highway 101 ~ The fastest route. Traveling South, take Highway 20 West (in Willits) all the way to the ocean. Highway 20 ends at Highway 1 in Fort Bragg. Turn right for
FORT BRAGG (MAP) -or- turn Left for
MENDOCINO (MAP).
~ TRAVELING FROM THE SOUTH ~ To Mendocino, Albion, Elk, Gualala ~ Take the 101 Freeway to Highway 128, travel through
Mendocino's Wine Country - Wine Tasting Map, continue through redwoods forests, then along side the Navarro River, headed toward the Sea and Highway 1. Highway 128 merges into Highway 1 (Coastal Highway) You'll notice a bridge that crosses over the Navarro River, stay to the right and follow Highway 128 to the Coast for Albion, Little River, Mendocino, FB and points further North. For the South Coast ~ Gualala, Point Arena, Sea Ranch ~ Follow the directions as above, but Turn Left (South) over the bridge, For
Gualala, Point Arena and Sea Ranch or
Elk. For
Mendocino, follow 128 past the bridge as it merges with Highway 1 North. Up the coast for
Albion ,
Little River,
Mendocino. For
Fort Bragg you have two choices, (1) as described in the last sentence or (2) Go North on 101 to 20 West to the sea. 20 dead ends in Fort Bragg, turn left to go to Mendocino.
