Montgomery Woods
Half way between Mendocino and Ukiah, you will find ancient redwood groves in Montgomery Woods State Park. The tallest living thing in the world, (a redwood tree) is in this grove.

Pygmy Forest in Van Damme
Because of poor soil characteristics, and a hardpan that precludes penetration by roots or water, trees on this site are dwarfed. The same species in the surrounding forest off the pygmy soils, attain full height.

Admiral William Standley
At an elevation of 1,700 feet in the Coastal Range. It is located near the headwaters of the south fork of the Eel River. The park features redwoods and is a popular spot for salmon and steelhead fishing. The area is also a favorite place for hikers and picnickers. The park is North of Willits, 14 miles west of Laytonville on Branscomb Road.
